Centering the voices, stories, and perspectives of those who have lived on the streets.
San Diego Unhoused Collective: Awarded the 2023-2024 Columbia University INCITE Assembling Voices Fellowship to create their immersive theatrical installation, Street Seen.
Jason Ritchie and Frank Kensaku Saragosa are both justice system-impacted artists with lived experience of homelessness. They created the San Diego Unhoused collective to collaborate on innovative art that centers the humanity of unsheltered people.
The Unhoused Collective was formed because more and more people are at risk of becoming homeless. We are creating platforms for people who are formerly or currently homeless to tell their stories and share their art.
Street Seen
Our inaugural project, Street Seen, is an innovative, immersive theatrical experience devised from the stories of people who are, or have been, unsheltered, exploring life on the streets from the perspective of the people who’ve lived there.
Workshops in Storytelling, Advocacy, and Digital Media

Other Projects
Projects in development include a YouTube channel, a documentary project, a digital archive of stories from the streets, and more. Check back as we continue to grow.
“Seeing unhoused people as unique individuals, centering their experiences and stories, is essential to advancing any kind of public discussion about both the problem of homelessness and possible solutions.”
— Frank Kensaku Saragosa (Cofounder and Producing Artist)
“The dialogue of the plight of the unhoused is largely dominated by those without lived experience. To find a workable solution, the voices of the homeless are key to understanding needed change.”
— Jason Ritchie (Cofounder and Producing Artist)
